Roses, chocolates, and romantic dinners are common gifts to be given around Valentine’s Day. However, it is possible you can be given a personal injury due to someone’s negligence. Many people are driving after a bit too much champagne and could easily cause a car accident. Here are some Valentine’s Day safety tips for all you love birds heading out this February 14th.

Don’t Drink and Drive

If you are thinking about going out for a romantic dinner and sharing a bottle of wine, make sure to have a safe way to get home. Call a cab or a private driving company like Lyft or Uber to make sure that you get home safely. If you do however get pulled over and you have been drinking it’s important to invoke your rights and speak with an attorney.

If you have the unfortunate occurrence of a car accident then it’s important to follow these steps:

  • If you are hurt, wait for emergency medical help.
  • Try to get to the side of the road.
  • Do not ever apologize at the scene of an accident.
  • Take pictures of different angles of the accident.
  • Collect Information from the other driver involved.
  • If needed, call the police.
  • Get checked out by a doctor.
  • Call an attorney afterward

Valentine’s Day can be a fun and romantic day, but make sure that you are celebrating the holiday safely.
